Bam Adebayo had to step in with Miami’s team severely short-handed and he did with a fine performance of 26 points and 17 rebounds.
Rookie Jamie Jaquez Jr. also impressed as he bagged a career-high 20 points. Kyle Lowry scored 17 points and Josh Richardson had 16, also a season high. Duncan Robinson scored 11 points in his first start of the season. Kevin Love had seven points.
The Heat were without key figures such as Tyler Herro (sprained ankle) and Jimmy Butler (personal reasons) and the team did well to rediscover sufficient sources of attacks much to the delight of head-coach Erik Spoelstra.
“Everyone was leaning forward with the body language saying ‘It’s me.’” he said.
Trae Young led Atlanta with 27 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter, and 11 assists. Dejounte Murray had 23 points. Each guard attempted nine 3-pointers, but coach Quin Snyder wasn’t satisfied with his team’s 18 of 46 shooting on long-range shots.
“We had some good looks that we didn’t take,” Snyder said.
