Carlos Alcaraz wrote another chapter to his tennis legacy on Sunday, capturing his second US Open crown and sixth Grand Slam overall with victory over Jannik Sinner. At just 22 years old, the Spaniard has already won twice at Roland Garros, Wimbledon and Flushing Meadows. Now, only one major remains unchecked on his list — the Australian Open.
“It’s my first goal, to be honest,” Alcaraz admitted. “When I go into preseason, when I look at what I want to improve, what I want to achieve, the Australian Open is always there.

It’s the first or second tournament of the year, and it is always the main goal for me — to complete a Career Grand Slam, even a Calendar Grand Slam. So it’s going to be great.”
Alcaraz’s triumph at Flushing Meadows was doubly rewarding. Not only did he lift the trophy, but by overcoming Sinner — who had taken the top spot earlier this year — he also reclaimed World No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings. It marks his first return to the summit since September 2023.
“Since I got the chance to recover the No. 1, it was one of my biggest goals this season,” he explained. “To try to recover it as soon as possible, or end the year there. Achieving that again, on the same day I won another Slam, feels even better. It’s everything I’ve been working for, and I’m really happy to live these experiences.”
