Alcaraz beats Monfils in straight sets to reach 1/8 finals in Miami

Carlos Alcaraz, world number 2, won against world number 47. Gael Monfils, 2-0 sets and advanced to the 1/8 finals at Miami Open.

The Spaniard continues to have the chance to make the ‘Sunshine Double’ by triumphing at the 2 Masters 1000 tournaments in the USA in March as Alcaraz won Indian Wells on March 17^th by defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the final.

Carlos eliminated Carballes Baena in his 1^st match in Miami for an hour and 21 minutes, and Alcaraz needed only 1 hour and 15 minutes to get past Monfils.

The Spaniard converted 2 break points from 2 opportunities to close the 1^st set 6-2. The world number 2 also converted 2 breaks in the 2^nd set and won it 6-4 and will face Lorenzo Musetti in the next round in Miami.
