Alexander Volkanovski is back on top. The UFC featherweight legend reclaimed his 145-pound title on Saturday night with a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over Diego Lopes in the main event of UFC 314 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

The win not only made Volkanovski a two-time champion, but also etched his name into the record books — at 36 years old, he becomes the first fighter under 155 pounds to win a UFC title past the age of 35.
It was a much-needed return to form after a challenging period that saw him suffer back-to-back knockout losses to Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria, sparking speculation that his reign at the top might be over. But Volkanovski silenced the doubters with a vintage performance, earning scorecards of 48-47, 49-46, and 49-46.

Now holding a 27-4 record, Volkanovski hadn’t fought since his knockout defeat to Topuria in February 2024 — a 14-month hiatus, the longest of his UFC career. But the Aussie proved he’s far from finished, adding another chapter to his legacy in the featherweight division.
