Fernando Alonso has urged his team to find an explanation behind Aston Martin’s sudden lack of pace, compared to their main rivals.
The Spaniard could only manage P9 after being clearly outpaced not only by Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren but also by the resurgent Williams.
After securing an impressive P2 in Zandvoort the following weekend turned sour for Alonso and his team.
“I think this is what we deserved today. We were only good for ninth and we need to get better next time. We didn’t have the pace, since Lap 1 I felt a little bit slow.” the 42-year-old said in the post-race debrief.
“We need to look at the reasons why this track is a little bit more difficult for us and focus in Singapore obviously to get a better weekend.”
Aston Martin have now fallen behind Ferrari in the Constructors Standings after the Scuderia notched its best finish of 2023 with P3 and P4.
