The Catalan club has received some bad news at a critical juncture of the campaign after confirmation that Raphinha has withdrawn from Selecao. The forward was forced to pull out of the Brazilian national team after suffering a muscular problem during the 2-1 friendly loss vs. France.
Barcelona player began from the 1st minute on the pitch in the Selecao friendly against France in the USA, but his time in the match was cut short. While the reports were for minor discomfort, his club issued an official statement confirming the extent of the problem:
“Raphinha has a right hamstring problem, as that was discovered after the discomfort he experienced during the Brazil v France game yesterday. He is returning to Catalonia to start the appropriate treatment. The prognosis is that he will be ready to return in 5 weeks.”
The Brazilian star will almost certainly miss the 2 matches against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League ¼ finals and the Catalan derby vs. Espanyol. His team is still in the battle for all trophies, and that is a huge blow to their ambitions.
