Alphonso Davies has put an end to speculation about his future by signing a new contract with Bayern Munich, extending his stay at the club until the end of the 2029-30 season. The deal ensures that the Canadian full-back, who joined Bayern as a teenager, could spend 11 years with the Bundesliga giants if he sees out his contract.

“I am very happy to have extended my contract at this great club,” Davies said. “I came to FC Bayern when I was 18 and just wanted to learn as much as possible every day to become one of the best in my position. Now I’m looking forward to another five years together. I’ve already achieved a lot here, but there’s more to come.”
Real Madrid had been keen on signing the 24-year-old, initially exploring a transfer this summer before considering a move on a free transfer in 2025. The Spanish club also has its sights set on Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold as part of a defensive overhaul.
However, Bayern remained determined to keep Davies and successfully secured his commitment with an improved contract offer.
“Alphonso Davies has become one of the best players in the world in his position at Bayern and has attracted a lot of interest,” said Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund. “The fact he wants to continue here with us shows Bayern’s status in international football and that Alphonso has found his sporting home in Munich.”
Under coach Vincent Kompany, Davies has made 16 Bundesliga appearances this season, scoring once, as Bayern sits atop the league table.
