Mike Trot and Jake Lamb had a solo run in the 9th inning, while Shohei Ohtani finished the game with 13 strikeouts, tying his career record.
With his fine performance Ohtani becomes the second player in MLB history to notch 500 strikeouts, along with 100 home runs, joining Babe Ruth.
“He was good,” Los Angeles manager Phil Nevin said. “There are some good hitters over there.”
The Angels were 4-3 down heading into the ninth inning before Lamb registered his second homer of the season to right-center off Giovanny Gallegos, tying the game at 4-4.
Trout had his eighth home run of the season to secure the eventual game-winning run. Anthony Rendon added a run-scoring hit.
