The Greek star said he will need three days to be back in form

Giannis Antetokounmpo is back with the Milwaukee Bucks, taking part in practice after missing the opening days of preseason camp due to a coronavirus infection. The two-time MVP had remained in Greece to recover before reuniting with the team in Miami on Friday.

“Antetokounmpo practiced separately from his teammates,” Bucks coach Doc Rivers said. “He said he’ll need about three days.”

The Bucks held their media day on Monday, with Giannis participating remotely from Europe. The team opened training camp in Milwaukee on Tuesday, then traveled to Miami on Thursday for several workouts at the University of Florida ahead of their preseason opener against the Heat on Monday.

“I think it took a toll on my body. I still don’t feel 100% physically,” Antetokounmpo admitted. “I’m just taking it day by day, getting back in shape. I was able to play a little bit, run a little bit. I’ll be better tomorrow. I have about 18 days until the first game, so I think I’ll be back.”

The 30-year-old forward, who turns 31 in December, is entering his 13th NBA season — all with Milwaukee. A nine-time All-Star, NBA champion, two-time MVP, and Finals MVP, Antetokounmpo remains one of the league’s most dominant forces. He’s also one of just two players, along with Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, to have averaged at least 30 points per game in each of the past three seasons.
