Anthony Edwards’ ankle injury is not serious and he is expected to return to action in the coming days, the Minnesota Timberwolves announced. The 21-year-old guard, an NBA All-Star this season, twisted his right ankle in the first quarter of Friday’s game against the Chicago Bulls, which the Timberwolves lost 131-139 in two overtimes.
The injury also kept him out of Saturday’s 107-122 loss to the Toronto Raptors, his first missed game of the season, but the swelling in his leg has gone down significantly since then.
This season Anthony Edwards is averaging 24.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in 71 games. The Minnesota Timberwolves sit in ninth place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 35 wins and 37 losses and will urgently need the services of their leading scorer in the remaining ten games of the campaign to make the playoffs.
