Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is “in contention” to be on the pitch in Sunday’s league match vs. Manchester City as he battles to overcome a muscular problem.
The young winger was forced off 34 minutes in the Champions League clash during the week against the Lens as the French side defeated the Premier League team 2-1. After the game, Arteta claimed that the problem was “a worry” ahead of playing against the reigning Premier League champions during the weekend.
Bukayo Saka has played in each of Arsenal’s last 87 Premier League games, a club record streak of uninterrupted appearances in the competition.

However, today, the head coach shared more positive news at his Friday press conference but didn’t share the exact nature of the Saka problem or whether the scan had shown additional problems.
“He’s in contention,” the Gunners boss spoke of Bukayo. “Let’s see how he progresses from today to Sunday. Saka had to leave the pitch; that is never a positive sign, but let’s see how he recovers. That’s it. I’m not part of the medical staff. That’s what they shared with me.”
