Mikel Arteta revealed that he was contemplating quitting his job as Arsenal manager after the Gunners infamous title collapse last season.
Arsenal were leading the table with 8 points at one stage, but consecutive draws against Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton proved costly before a heavy loss to rivals Manchester City finally sealed the Gunners’ doom.
“The first few weeks, very tough,” said Arteta.
“The first thing you have to do is look in the mirror and understand – is there something that you should have done better or differently? If that is the case then learn from it.
“It took a big reflection, but the answer is yes and I feel with a lot of energy and positiveness.”
Arsenal begin the new season with a Community Shield clash against Manchester City and will be looking to make amends for last campaign and get to a quick start.
