Raheem will replace Arthur Smith, dismissed after Atlanta finished 7-10 this campaign.
It marks a return to the Falcons for Raheem, who was part of Dan Quinn’s Atlanta staff in 2015-20. Morris had been interim coach for the final 11 matches of the 2020 campaign after Dann was dismissed.
Atlanta interviewed 14 people, including Bill Belichick, Mike Vrabel, and Jim Harbaugh, but Jim was appointed 2 days ago as the LA Chargers’ new boss.
Raheem is the 1st full-time Black boss in the organization’s history.
“This is a historic moment for our franchise,” Falcons owner shared after the appointment. “We are excited to welcome Raheem Morris back to our city as the team’s new boss.”
Morris was 1 of 4 candidates who had 2nd interview with the Falcons.
2015-2019, new #Falcons HC Raheem Morris was Atlanta’s assistant HC and pass game coordinator.
During that stretch, future HOF QB #MattRyan AVERGAED 4,954 yards, 30 TD passes every 17-games.
In 2016, he set the all-time #NFL single-season record for PR at 119.9 (inc.playoffs). pic.twitter.com/jLEZmHfFSq
