Hungary were the ones to lead the way with an opening goal from Istvan Sofron inside 9 minutes.
Marco Rosi tied the game, before Hungary went one ahead in the closing stages of the first period through Sofron once again.
The Hungarians were flying as they put a third goal past the Austrians through Milan Horvath’s strike.
However, Austria were quick to respond as they reduced the deficit just 2 minutes later.
Late in the second period, the Austrians were able to find an equalizer through Lukas Haudum.
That set the game into stalemate as neither team was able to find a winner in the third period. That send the game into shoot-out, where the Austrians’ precision paid off and got them the win.
With it they secure their stay at the top division for another 3 years.
