The young player (22) secured his rookie scale contract extension ahead of Monday’s deadline for the 2020 NBA draft class players.
Deni, the 9th overall selection in the class, has made his place in the franchise starting lineup and is expected to have an even more significant role with Washington this campaign in a 2-way role.
Avdija averaged almost 10 points, 6.5 boards, 3 assists, and steal in 76 matches for the organization in the past campaign. He began from the 1st minute on the court in 40 matches – after having started the same number of games in his 1st 2 campaigns combined.
The forward finished with 11 double-doubles last campaign, twice the number he had in his 1st 2 campaigns.
He played for Maccabi Tel Aviv before joining the league in 2020.
