Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal has signed a new six-year contract, committing his future to the club until 2031 after a sensational season that saw him help the Catalans secure a domestic treble.
The 17-year-old winger’s previous deal ran through the 2025–26 season, but his remarkable rise prompted the club to act swiftly. Yamal scored 18 goals and provided 25 assists across 55 appearances in a historic campaign under new manager Hansi Flick, during which Barça won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

Yamal, who made his debut at just 15 in 2023, has already racked up 115 senior appearances, netting 25 goals. He’s the youngest player ever to score in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Super Cup, and the youngest to reach 100 appearances for the club.
Barcelona announced the contract renewal on Tuesday, with club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco present at the signing.
“Yamal’s renewal is a demonstration of the solidity of Barça’s project,” the club said in a statement. “His emergence on to the world football scene is like few others. The lad from Mataró has exploded on to the stage that is world football with performances that are already part of Barcelona history.”
Internationally, Yamal has also made his mark, earning 19 caps for Spain and playing a pivotal role in their Euro 2024 triumph, where they defeated England 2–1 in the final.
Dubbed the heir to Lionel Messi’s legacy, Yamal continues to draw comparisons with the club icon, having followed a similar path through the famed La Masia academy.
