Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry gave the Bavarians 2-0 win in the second leg
French giants Paris Saint-Germain suffered more Champions League disappointment as German champions Bayern’s professional display earned them 2-0 second-leg win at the Allianz Arena and sent them through to the quarter-finals.

It is the second season running in which PSG have gone out of the Champions League in the last 16, and the fifth time in the last seven campaigns the Qatar-owned club have failed to go beyond the first knockout round.

Christophe Galtier’s PSG side arrived in Munich trailing 1-0 after defeat at the Parc des Princes, knowing they had to end Bayern’s long unbeaten run on home soil if they were to avoid a fifth last-16 exit in seven years.

The tie was still firmly in the balance after a goalless 45 minutes, but Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting having had one goal chalked off, did finally get himself on the scoresheet following a defensive blunder and Serge Gnabry put the finishing touches on a job well done late on, sealing a comfortable 3-0 aggregate win.

Bayern were worthy winners against a flat PSG side, for whom neither Kylian Mbappe nor Lionel Messi had the expected impact on the game while Neymar was missing with an ankle injury.

The French side were not helped by injuries in defense, with captain Marquinhos forced off after 36 minutes with a rib problem and his replacement, Nordi Mukiele, also having to be substituted at half-time.
