Bayern Munich have left the Senegalese forward Sadio Mane out of their squad for the upcoming match in the Bundesliga against Hoffenheim as a retributive measure for his alleged bust-up against his teammate Leroy Sane.
Reports since yesterday claimed that Mane punched Sane in the face in the tunnel following an 83rd minute row they had on the pitch in Bayern’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the first tie of the Champions League 1/4 finals.
Bayern announced that Mane has been punished by being dropped for his ‘misconduct’ and will receive further fine from the team.
The two players haven’t yet spoken of the incident, but they had to travel separately back to Germany as Mane was picked privately at the airport, whereas Sane used the team bus.
Bayern Munich face Manchester City in the return leg on April 19 Wednesday in hope of a miraculous turnaround, which would see the Bavarian go through to the semi-finals.
