Former Bayern president is linked with Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov

The Allianz Arena stadium and the headquarters of the Bayern Munich were searched last night by investigators from the federal and regional criminal police departments in Munich, Bild reported.

According to the information, the searches were carried out as part of a criminal case for tax evasion and money laundering. Former Bayern president Uli Hoeness and Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov are mentioned in the publication’s material. The businessman’s representative, in a comment for TASS, denied having grounds for an investigation.

“As we have indicated earlier, such suspicions are unfounded and any assumptions about money laundering, its ‘dubious’ origin or tax evasion are false and discredit the reputation of Mr. Usmanov,” said the representative of the businessman. The public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt am Main stated that it does not conduct investigations or financial proceedings against Bayern, responsible persons or members of the club.
