The Belgium strike earned him the accolade

Christian Benteke was awarded with Goal of the Matchday trophy for his strike in D.C. United’s 3-0 win over Charlotte FC.


It is his first award of this kind ever since he joined the MLS last summer after leaving English Premier League side Crystal Palace.

His spectacular bicycle kick earned him 48.7% of the votes as he helped his side achieve a third successive victory.

Cucho Hernandez strike for Columbus Crew in the 2-1 defeat to Inter Miami lined up a distant second with 27.2% of the votes, while Bryce Duke goal in CF Montreal 2-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City rounded off the top 3 with 14,4%.
