Despite losing out on pole position, neither Max Verstappen, nor Sergio Perez seemed too fazed with the prospect of starting 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Verstappen and Perez emphasized on the strong race pace of their car and combined with the low downforce the car is running, Leclerc should not be too difficult to dispatch.
“Around here it’s really hard.” said Verstappen
“In Q3 you’re on the limit and trying to make everything perfect, [so] it’s not the easiest. But nevertheless, we are P2, we know we have a very good race car, so all in all it’s not bad. Of course, you always want to start ahead, but we [only] have to pass one car.”
Perez, on the other hand was more conservative as he felt there was more to take from his Red Bull, but still feels confident about the race.
“I’m a bit disappointed to be sitting P3. I felt definitely there was more [time] in it, my lap wasn’t that clean. But if there’s a place where you can race, it’s definitely here.” said the Mexican
