The American, who began the final round 5-stroke ahead, received a not-so-great welcome from the crowd in Great Britain, who cheered for his opponents.
World number 26, Brian is the oldest 1st-time major champ at 36 years old since Spaniard Sergio Garcia, 37, triumphed in the Masters in 2017. He will get paid 3 million dollars for his victory at The Open.
Before the beginning of the tournament, the betting sites gave him a chance 125-to-1 to triumph, but he defined the odds and will get the trophy home.
“I will not be honest if I didn’t hear some things that weren’t very pleasant towards me,” Harman shared. “I heard them, but that didn’t influence my game, and I gave even more to silence the crowd.”
Brian Harman wanted to play baseball growing up.
But at 5’7”, his dad talked him into golf due to his size.
