Brett Howden scored twice, while Alec Martinez, Nicolas Roy and Michael Amadio each added one more as the Knights tied the franchise record for most goals scored in a playoff game.
“We finished some plays,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “It’s a good performance for us. Our guys were ready to play.”
Matthew Tkachuk and Anton Lundell were the sole scorers for Florida, while goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky had a night to forget as he was subbed off as early as the 2nd period, when the Knights had already established a 4-0 lead.
“We can be a little better in front of our goaltender,” Panthers coach Paul Maurice said. “I got him out to keep him rested.”
Florida go against the odds in Game 3, as only 3 teams in the last 34 years have managed to come from 2-0 down and clinch the Stanley Cup. Game 3 will take place at Sunrise, Florida on Thursday.
