Brock Purdy is feeling confident as he aims to recover from the unpleasant injury he picked last week in 49ers training camp.
Purdy was attempting a throw, when his teammate Clelin Ferrell hit his freshly repaired through surgery arm, knocking the ball out and the quarterback with it as well, much to the infuriation of manager Kyle Shanahan.
“I feel like as a coach, a teammate watching, yeah, they might be scared about that, especially how things ended last year with my arm,” Purdy said. “But, honestly for myself, it’s just football. I wasn’t even thinking about it. He hit the ball out of my hand and I was going through to finish the throw and the ball ended up being on the ground. It’s football.”
The 23-year-old tore a ligament in his throwing elbow in the NFC title game loss on January 29 and underwent surgery in March. He returned in late May and has taken part in San Francisco’s all three practice sessions in training camp.
