The Atlanta Falcons are interested in signing free agent defensive end Calais Campbell on a one-year deal, reports from NFL Network Insider suggested on Wednesday.
Approaching 37 years of age, Campbell is still a force to be reckoned with as he has proven so many times throughout his long career.
This would be the veteran’s 16th season in the NFL, a period in which he has contributed with 99 career sacks, 16 forced fumbles, 809 tackles and 165 tackles for lost spread in 227 appearances for three clubs – the Cardinals, Jaguars and his most recent team the Ravens, who released him on March 13.
The potential addition of Campbell to the squad adds much needed calmness in the dressing room, full with young players whose talent is yet to flourish.
The Falcons have failed to qualify in the top 10 for the past 5 years. The mature figure of Campbell might have a vital role in potential revival of the squad as they look to change their bad run of results.
