The NHL franchise from the USA Capital moved 4 points back of Philadelphia for 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division and also sit 5 back of Tampa Bay for the 2nd and final wild card in the East. Capitals triumphed in 5 in their past 7 matches and are fighting to make it to the playoffs.
Ovechkin’s 17th goal since the beginning of the campaign started the comeback from down 2-0 after 1 period. Sonny Milano evened it, and Carlson notched on a wraparound as part of a huge 2nd period for the home team that decided the clash and could have a crucial role in the playoff picture at the end of the season.
Anthony Mantha and Dylan Strome notched in the 3rd period to secure the Capitals victory.
