Arizona Cardinals RB James Conner sustained a campaign-ending right ankle problem during yesterday’s defeat against the San Francisco 49ers.
James was carted off the pitch after a 1-yard run at the beginning of the 3rd quarter of the 49ers’ 16-15 win. The problem is considered “severe,” and he will need a procedure.
After the match, the Cardinals’ manager, Jonathan Gannon, shared that he didn’t know how bad the injury to his running back was, as nothing had been confirmed yet.
Arizona will have only a few days to prepare for its next match vs. the Seahawks at home on TNF.
QB Kyler Murray didn’t hide his emotions while the medical staff checked the running back on the field. “It’s very bad what happened to him,” shared the quarterback of the Cardinals. “James is not just my teammate, I feel him like a brother. To witness him getting injured like this, you never want to experience that. I know that things like this happen in the NFL, but it’s still very bad. Everything that he did to prepare for the season and to end it like this for him. Without a doubt, it’s tough.”
WAY too many injuries today…Cardinals RB James Conner is being carted off the field after being tackled very awkwardly.
The broadcast did not show the replay– very telling of the severity of the injury. pic.twitter.com/Qpi26CUrrX
