The Carolina Panthers are benching ex-number 1 overall selection Bryce Young and going with veteran Andy Dalton as the starting QB.
The decision to bench Bryce was made by manager Dave Canales, GM Dan Morgan, and executive vice president Brandt Tillis. The players were informed about the change during position meetings.

Bryce performed very poorly for the Panthers as they were defeated 26-3 by the LA Chargers. The former number 1 overall pick passed for only 84 yards to even the 4th fewest in organization history for a QB with at least 25 tries.
Young became the 3rd footballer in the past 20 years to average 4 or fewer yards per dropback in 4 consecutive starts. Bryce has 3 picks and no TD in 2 starts in the current campaign.
After the match, Carolina boss Dave Canales, without hesitation, claimed Young would be the starter heading into next week’s match vs. the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, now things are different, and the veteran Dalton will have the task of leading the Panthers in the upcoming match, as Bryce will have the chance to watch from the bench and clear his head.
