Free agent starting pitcher Dylan Cease, who has made at least 32 starts in each of the last 5 campaigns, secured a 7-year, 210 million dollar contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.
With the contract, which will be official after a physical, Toronto would be able to count on another great weapon in an organization that triumphed at the American League pennant and advanced to the World Series, being defeated by the LA Dodgers in 7 matches.
Dylan, who will be 30 years old in December, has been a reliable front-line starter in the last 5 years, ranking 4th in that period in pitcher WAR, ahead of Tarik Skubal, Max Fried, and Framber Valdez.
He was tendered to a 22 million dollar qualifying offer by the Padres, which Cease declined by the November 18th deadline. Because Dylan inked with a new franchise, San Diego will get a compensatory draft selection after the 4th round.
