Chelsea central back and captain Thiago Silva has expressed his frustrastion with the ongoing misdemeanors in his current club.
The London team crashed out rather tamely against Real Madrid in the Champions League, which practically ended the Blues’ season. With them sitting at 11th and 10 points of an European football spot, the match against Los Blancos was Chelsea’s last hope of salvaging something from a truly miserable season.
Reflecting on their misfortunes, Thiago Silva has stated the club needs “to stop and put strategy into place”. Chelsea spent enornmous amount of money on new players, but have struggled to adapt them.
“The manager can only pick 11 from 30-something. That’s tough,” said Silva.
“There is always going to be someone upset because not everyone can play.”
The approximate net spent by Chelsea since the takeover of American Todd Boehly is estimated to be around £550m, but all that was insufficient to produce the results. The club has sacked two managers over the course of the season and Frank Lampard short tenure so far has been a real nightmare – 4 losses out of 4 games.
“It’s a difficult moment for the club, with a lot of indecision,” added 38-year-old Silva.
“A positive point is that there are amazing players within the squad, but on the other hand there is always players that are going to be unhappy.
“We need to stop and put a strategy in place, otherwise next season we could make the same mistakes.”
