Chimaev defeats Usman with majority decision

Khamzat remained undefeated in UFC.

Khamzat Chimaev almost finished his fight in the 1st round but had to be patient and eventually triumphed with a majority decision against Kamaru Usman in the UFC 294 co-main event in Abu Dhabi.

When the bout began, Khamzat grabbed onto a takedown and he right away started punishing Kamaru on the ground as he was looking for a submission. However, Usman bounced back and had a very solid 2nd round. In the final 3rd round, Chimaev secured a takedown in the final seconds of the fight; that can be the reason that he ended up victorious in 2 of the 3 judges’ cards as the other 1 scored the fight as a draw – 29-27, 29-27 and 28-28.

After the victory, Chimaev shared in his interview that he prayed for peace and paid respect to Usman for accepting the fight on such short notice.

“I admire Kamaru,” Chimaev claimed. “Usman has good coaches, a good team. I didn’t come here for the trophies; I’m here to earn money and be satisfied.”
