The Indiana Pacers are acquiring center Ivica Zubac from the LA Clippers for Bennedict Mathurin, Isaiah Jackson, 2 1st-round selections, and 1 2nd-round selection.
The Packers now have a new starting center as he will replace Myles Turner, who left the organization during the offseason. Indiana has a 13-38 record in the current campaign, 1 of the worst in the league, but the trade for Ivica is with an eye on the future.
The center, who will become 29 years old in March, is averaging 14 points and 11 boards on 61% shooting in the current campaign. Zubac is under deal through the 2027-28 campaign and will provide a new pick-and-roll partner when Indiana leader Tyrese Haliburton returns next campaign from a torn ACL.
The Pacers also got 3rd-year guard Kobe Brown in the exchange.
The Clippers got this year’s 1st-round selection from Indiana, protected from picks Nos. 1-4 and 10-30 and a 2029 unprotected Indiana 1st-rounder.
