The Los Angeles Clippers could be without ex-MVP Russell Westbrook for several weeks after the star fractured his left hand in the 1st half of their 140-115 victory vs. the Washington Wizards.
Manager Ty Lue shared that the team was still evaluating the problem.
“I send my sympathy to Westbrook at the moment,” Lue shared. “You never want to see a basketballer get injured. Wizards’ Poole drove around, and Russ tried to deflect it from the back. I think he struck his elbow with his hand.
“At the moment, we don’t know when he will be on the court again. We don’t know if Westbrook must undergo a procedure or anything yet. But Russ is sidelined at the moment. We will know more in the upcoming days.”
The point guard rarely didn’t play due to injury. But in the 2nd match of the 2014-15 campaign, Russ broke his right hand. The former MVP underwent a procedure on November 1st and returned to the court on November 24th, 2014, missing only 14 matches.
Russ appeared on the court for 10 minutes and left injured in the 2nd quarter with 6 points.
“I don’t know what’s going on. I didn’t even know [he had a fractured hand]… [We’ll miss] his athleticism, his energy, his play-making ability, his leadership.”
