Before the Dallas Cowboys even had their 1st padded practice of training camp, they suffered a huge setback with DE Sam Williams sustaining a torn ACL in his left knee.
Sam also sustained a partial MCL tear, and the problems had ended his campaign before it started.
The pass rusher was injured during the special teams portion of practice after he was part of a blocking drill. Williams remained on the field for a few minutes as he was attended by the Cowboys’ medical staff. Sam could not put any weight on his left leg as he got on a cart and was carted off the field.
After the session, owner and GM Jerry Jones claimed, “It doesn’t look good,” before the player headed off for an MRI.
Dallas was relying on Sam being a crucial part of their pass rush behind DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons. The franchise picked Marshawn Kneeland in the 2nd round of this year’s draft and have been satisfied with his early performance in training camp.
You gotta feel for Sam Williams.
