The Dallas Cowboys are slightly reducing QB Dak Prescott‘s massive salary cap hit by reworking his deal going into the year of the contract.
Cowboys and Dak Prescott are off to a strong start in contract talks, demonstrating collaborative ability to help team manage finances. Prescott willing to add two void years, leading to $4M in 2024 cap savings. Good sign for capacity to achieve extension. https://t.co/hq0jNJfWXw

A 5 million dollar roster bonus has been converted into a signing bonus to reduce this year’s cap hit by 4 million dollars to just over 55 million dollars.
Dallas can create more salary cap relief with an extension for the quarterback, who is coming off a wild-card defeat at their stadium against the Packers that dropped his postseason record to 2-5.
The franchise will continue to persuade Dak to ink a deal extension.
While Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has shared that the organization aims to keep the quarterback, the franchise GM hasn’t spoken the same way he did 3 years ago before inking his organization’s quarterback to a franchise-record 160 million dollar, 4-year deal.
Committing to Pak beyond the upcoming campaign would make it easier to get contracts done with Lamb and Parsons.
