Atlanta Hawks All-Defensive guard Dyson Daniels will sign a 4-year, 100 million dollar rookie deal extension with the organization.
Dyson secured the award for the NBA’s Most Improved Player of the Year, finished 2nd for Defensive Player of the Year, was part of the All-Defense, and finished with 229 steals in the past campaign, the most in a campaign by any basketballer since Gary Payton almost 30 years ago.
The 8th selection in the NBA Draft 3 years ago, he averaged over 14 points, up from almost 6 in the previous season, almost 6 boards, almost 4.5 assists, and 3 steals in the past campaign, becoming the 1st basketballer to average 3 steals since Alvin Robertson at the beginning of 1990.
Atlanta acquired the guard and a 1st-round selection from the Pelicans for Dejounte Murray during the summer of 2024, and the pairing with the defensive-minded Dyson and leader Trae Young has been successful so far for the Hawks.
He swiftly became a valuable part of the future of the franchise from Atlanta, as they can also count on Jalen Johnson and the 1st-overall selection in last year’s draft, Zaccharie Risacher, as players for the future.
