David de Gea has reportedly refused to sign a new contract extension with his current club Manchester United.
Back in September 2019 the Spanish goalkeeper signed his current deal with the Red Devils, worth £375,000-a-week, which made him the highest paid goalkeeper.
The 32-year old joined the Old Trafford team back in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and has made over 500 appearances, establishing himself not only as number one starter, but also as one of the most prolific goalkeepers of his generation.
That’s the reason United would pretty much like to keep the Spanish asset on condition that he cuts down his salary. Despite the initial lack of agreement, the rumours are that both parties will come to terms and the ongoing talks will have a positive outcome.
After a sloppy start to this season, de Gea has reignited his very best form as he saved his team on numerous occasions. He managed to surpass club legend Peter Smeichel as the goalkeeper with most clean sheets with 183.
