Kevin was sidelined for 5 months at the beginning of the campaign due to a hamstring problem before he returned for Manchester City at the beginning of the year.
De Bruyne will not play in his country’s matches vs. the Republic of Ireland and England with an ongoing groin injury.
“I’m not sure if there is a connection to his hamstring problem. It is now a problem on the groin that Kevin struggled with in the past few games,” manager Domenico Tedesco shared with the media today.
“On Wednesday, I spoke to the doctor and De Bruyne, and we decided the risk was too great. It is our responsibility to take into account the footballer but also the footballer’s team.
“The better scenario is to recover at his club fully and then have him ready for the Euro. We can’t gamble, and certainly not with De Bruyne.”
