De’Aaron Fox notched 34 points, and Harrison Barnes contributed 20 as the Sacramento Kings secured a 120-115 victory over Dallas on Saturday night, putting a damper on Luka Doncic’s performance. Doncic, who had set a franchise record with 73 points the previous night, managed 28 points in this contest.
Although the Kings held a substantial 23-point lead, it dwindled to 114-108 with two minutes remaining. Fox responded with a crucial layup and a pair of free throws. Dallas’s Maxi Kleber’s follow-up with seven seconds left narrowed the gap to three, but Barnes sealed the win with two successful free throws with 4.4 seconds on the clock.
In addition to Fox and Barnes, Kevin Huerter contributed 18 points, and Domantas Sabonis secured his 27th consecutive double-double with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. The Kings secured their third consecutive win, bouncing back from a season-low four-game losing streak and claiming victories in the first two games of a season-long seven-game road trip.
The Mavericks, coming off a back-to-back after defeating Atlanta 148-143, saw Doncic achieve his ninth triple-double of the season with 28 points, 17 assists, and 10 rebounds. However, the Kings’ season-high 10 blocks, including nine in the first half, played a significant role in the victory.
Dallas was without Kyrie Irving for the third straight game due to a right thumb sprain suffered on Monday. The Mavericks have played 24 out of 46 games this season without one or both of their star players.
