DeAndre Hopkins will not rush with his next move as he weighs up his options. That may as well mean he will have to wait until August until there is a team up for grabs, reports suggest.
“I just got official word, DeAndre Hopkins is in New England, he’s meeting with the Patriots,” Jeremy Fowler of ESPN said on Thursday morning. “He will meet with the coaches, Bill Belichick and the Patriots’ interest remains high. I’m also told that Hopkins is not in a major rush. He’s looking at more training camp, even early August as more of a harder deadline for him to sign somewhere. So it’d have to be a very sweet offer for New England to make that happen today.”
Hopkins made 35 appearances for the Cardinals the last three season, notching 221 receptions for 2, 696 and 17 touchdowns. The 31-year-old receiver was released from Arizona last month, after the team were unable to find a trade partner.
