Declan Rice pointed out the lack of finishing in the final third as the main cause behind Arsenal’s shocking 2-1 loss to Lens on Tuesday night.
The Gunners took an early lead, but were unable to hold onto their advantage as their opponent made a complete turnaround to grab the full 3 points.
Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard and Takehiro Tomiyasu all missed great opportunities to put the home side back in front before Elye Wahi’s second-half winner.
“We missed some big chances,” the disappointed Rice admitted. “It’s a great finish for their first goal and the second one we created with our own problems.”
“I thought we totally dominated the match but they are not an easy opponent. We had to be on it but it was just that final bit that was lacking.”
“Credit to them. They defended very well and some of their centre-backs had some amazing performances.”
Arsenal must put their disappointment behind as soon as possible as the face a huge challenge in the Premier League in couple of days against the defending champion Manchester City.
