Araujo bags the winning goal in the third minute of added time

Barcelona not only survived but pulled out a 1-0 win away to Real Sociedad in their La Liga game of Round 12. Ronald Araujo got the three points for the Catalans with a goal in the third minute of stoppage time.

From the referee’s very first signal, the home side rushed to attack and were close to the goal inside the first 60 seconds. Ander Berenechea shot powerfully into the near corner but Ter Stegen showed great awareness and cleared. Ter Stegen had to intervene again in the 16th minute when Takefusa Kubo shot from close range and the Germany international blocked his shot.

The hosts wanted a penalty in the 65th minute after Oyarzabal was pushed by Martinez and Kunde in the penalty area, but the referee waved to play on.

A quarter of an hour before the end, Rafinha tried a shot from distance, but it didn’t find the Sociedad goal, but Araujo did in the third minute of stoppage time. Ilkay Gundogan crossed the ball towards the defender, who rose to head the ball into the net. Initially the goal was ruled off for offside, but VAR checked and showed it is all regular.
