Denver shared at the beginning of the week that Russell will be cut after the 2024 NFL campaign starts March 13th, a decision that will end the quarterback’s 2-year run with the franchise.
After the news broke out, Russell shared that tough times don’t last, but tough humans do, and that is looking with optimism to the future.
Denver went 11-19 in Russell’s starts over 2 campaigns and failed to reach the postseason. Manager Sean Payton benched him with 2 matches remaining in the past season, a move that marked the end of Wilson’s career with the Broncos. Russell had passed for 3,070 yards with 26 TDs and 8 picks in his time with Denver.
The franchise inked the quarterback to a 5-year, almost 243 million-dollar contract after an exchange with the Seattle Seahawks 2 years ago.
