Zach’s addition comes after Detroit’s TE Brock Wright suffered a forearm injury in the organization’s 31-23 divisional-round win against Tampa Bay Bucks. Brock’s injury left Sam LaPorta as the only healthy TE on the franchise’s roster, and manager Dan Campbell claimed it didn’t “look good” for Wright’s availability for the NFC Championship Match vs. the San Francisco 49ers.
Ertz is expected to ink with Detroit’s practice roster and then be elevated for the NFC title match.
Zach (33) was released by the Arizona Cardinals two months ago. Ex-teammate J.J. Watt shared on social media that the tight end requested to be released to join a contender and try to win his 2nd Super Bowl ring.
Ertz won the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII, a 41-33 triumph against the NE Patriots as he finished that match with 67 yards and a TD.
