In exchange, the Devils are sending a fourth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft to Vancouver.
The 28-year-old Lazar scored three goals and two assists with 14 penalty minutes in 45 games for the Canucks this season.
His 51.9 percent face-off win percentage ranked second on Vancouver, and he was third in hits (124). His hit total and blocked shots (49) were second among Canucks forwards.
Lazar is under contract through the 2024-25 season, with an average annual value of $1 million.
