Novak Djokovic expressed disappointment with his performance this season after his loss to Casper Ruud in the Monte Carlo Masters semi-finals. The defeat adds to a string of unsatisfactory results, including a third-round exit at Indian Wells and a semi-final loss at the Australian Open.
As the world number one, Djokovic has high expectations for himself and acknowledged that not securing a title this season is below his usual standards. Despite some positives to take away, he emphasized his accustomed high standard in terms of expectations and results.
“With the way I’ve been playing and performing, not having a title is, compared to the last 15 years, not a great season at all,” Djokovic said. “There are positives to take away for sure, but I’m used to a really high standard in terms of expectations and results.”
With an 11-4 record this year, Djokovic’s quest for his first title of the year continues, underscoring his desire to regain his winning form and return to the top of the sport.
