World number one Novak Djokovic said on Wednesday he had recovered from a hamstring injury and announced he would play at the Dubai ATP tournament next week.
“As regards the injury I sustained before the Australian Open, it has healed,” he told a news conference in Belgrade
“I am getting closer to 100 percent intensity, but I am still not on that level. I have decided to play at the Dubai tournament.
“I am travelling to Dubai tomorrow and I will be trying to get as far as possible. The ambitions are always the highest, regardless of the tournament.
Djokovic added that he was still waiting for a response from the US about whether he would be able to play at the Indian Wells and Miami Masters.
“I am waiting for a response, and I would like to go, but it is not in my hands,” he said. “I am getting ready, but we will see how things develop in the next two weeks.
“I am glad to have received support from the directors of the Indian Wells and Miami tournaments. I hope the third party will give a positive response, too. That is all I can say.”
