The world No. 1 surprised that his coach wasn't names coach of the year

Novak Djokovic playfully teased his coach, Goran Ivanisevic, after he wasn’t selected as the “Coach of the Year,” despite the Serbian winning 3 out of 4 Grand Slam tournaments and the season-ending ATP Finals.

The award went to the coaching duo of Jannik Sinner, Simone Vagnozzi, and Darren Cahill.

“Congratulations to Simone and Darren for an amazing season with Jannik. Goran, apparently, we have to win all 4 Slams to maybe (just maybe) get the Coach of the Year award. Being number 1, winning three Slams, and making history isn’t enough, my dear coach,” Djokovic wrote on his social media.

The light-hearted comment reflects Djokovic’s incredible achievements in the 2022 season, where he claimed the top spot in the rankings, secured victories in three Grand Slam events, and made significant contributions to tennis history. Djokovic’s camaraderie with his coach showcases their strong bond amid the highs and lows of professional tennis.
