The Miami Dolphins have dismissed boss Mike McDaniel, the organization revealed today.
The firing comes after the head coach shared with the media at the beginning of the week that he would be part of the organization’s interviews to appoint a new GM.
Miami owner Stephen Ross met with Mike on Tuesday to talk about the campaign, and after that, Stephen decided to fire him.
“After a long period of consideration since the end of the campaign, I decided that the Dolphins need a comprehensive change,” Ross shared.
“I love McDaniel and want to thank him for everything that he did for the organization. He is an incredibly creative football mind whose passion for this sport and his footballers was evident daily. I wish him all the best in the future,” the Fins owner added.
The team will look to hire a head coach after a general manager is appointed, with a new GM expected to be in place by the end of the week.
Miami ended the season 7-10, the organization’s 2nd straight losing campaign after making the postseason in 2022 and 2023. It comes roughly a year and a half after Mike inked a 3-year extension during the offseason in 2024.
