Slovenian star Doncic won a matchup of the NBA’s top two scorers as Joel Embiid finished with 35 points for the 76ers, who were playing a night after a win in Miami without their All-Star center.
Doncic led the charge with 42 points, 12 assists, four rebounds, and one steal in 39 minutes of action. He made 13 of his 22 field goal attempts, including hitting seven 3-poInters as Dallas outscored the Sixers by 18 points with their 24-year-old superstar on the floor.
The eight-time All-Star Irving finished with 40 points, six assists, four rebounds, and three steals on 15 of 22 shooting from the field, including hitting six 3-pointers.
Five other Mavericks hit 3-pointers as Dallas finished with a season-high 25 3s on 48 attempts (52%).
Tyrese Maxey scored 29 points and James Harden had 27 points and 13 assists, including 10 in the first half
The Mavericks host the Phoenix Suns on Sunday afternoon as Irving will face former teammate Kevin Durant for the first time since they left Brooklyn.
The 76ers visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday – their third game of a five-game trip.
